Our Story
UNID didn’t start in a boardroom—it started in a casual Facebook group among a small group of local interior designers.
In the beginning, we were simply looking for a supportive space to trade recommendations on reliable installers, swap real-world business strategies, and talk candidly about the unique challenges of running a residential design firm in Utah. As our conversations grew, a glaring issue became impossible to ignore: while national commercial organizations existed, residential interior designers lacked a dedicated, unified network in Utah. Independent solo practitioners and boutique firms were mostly left to navigate vendor relationships, trade pricing, and complex business operations entirely on their own.
We realized that by pooling our collective strength, we could coordinate directly with reps, host showroom meetings, and gain better access to industry trade partners. But the momentum didn’t stop there.
Recognizing how much more we could accomplish together, we formalized our efforts to create the Utah Network of Interior Designers (UNID)—a non-profit organization built by designers, for designers.
Today, UNID brings together independent designers, trade partners, and industry vendors across Utah to share resources, elevate skills, and grow thriving businesses together.
